Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on the 22nd (local time) that it struck a US military base in Jordan, destroying numerous drones and helicopters and causing US casualties.
The Revolutionary Guard stated in a statement that it attacked King Faisal Air Base and Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan with missiles and drones as part of the "Nasr 2" operation.
The statement claimed, "The attack hit hangars prepared for the sortie of US F-15 fighter jets. In particular, the drone hangar strike completely destroyed eight new MQ-9 drones that were still in their packaging prior to deployment, and two drones parked outdoors also suffered significant damage."
It added that two large US military helicopters were severely damaged due to a strike on a helicopter storage hangar, and that multiple casualties occurred after attacking US troop housing facilities.
The Revolutionary Guard emphasized, "This attack is a legitimate retaliation in response to US airstrikes," explaining that "the US has repeatedly targeted military and civilian facilities, leading it to face overwhelming retaliation."
The Revolutionary Guard threatened, "If we do not punish the aggressors, a vicious cycle of war and negotiation will only repeat. If US aggression continues, we are ready to launch a painful operation that will bring 'national mourning' to the United States."
Meanwhile, Israeli and foreign media reported that a missile fired by Iran also landed in Aqaba, a southwestern port city in Jordan bordering Israel, and explosions were heard in the nearby Israeli city of Eilat.
If Iranian missiles land on Israeli territory, it could trigger the participation of Israel, which has been watching the armed conflict between the US and Iran from the sidelines.
Meanwhile, on this day, the 12th day of the armed conflict between the US and Iran, the Tasnim News Agency reported that Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran was targeted by a US missile strike.
The agency stated, "At 2:48 PM, Larak Island became the target of a US missile," adding, "Authorities are investigating the scale of the enemy attack, the exact targets, and the extent of the damage."
