Late last night (July 21) in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, police officers responding to a suspected drunk driving report were struck and injured by the suspect's vehicle. As the driver tried to shake off the pursuing police, the vehicle rammed into patrol cars, leaving one officer with a fracture.

At around 10:10 PM last night, on a road in Yangchon-eup, Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.
A white SUV speeds by, closely followed by a police car with its sirens blaring.
Police responding to a suspected drunk driving report had repeatedly ordered the driver to stop, but the driver chose to flee.
The midnight pursuit, which lasted for nearly 10 minutes, finally ended after the SUV slammed into two police cars.
[Police Official: The drunk vehicle made a left turn right here. Our patrol car moved over and stopped, and that's when they rammed into it.]
Even after the vehicle came to a halt, the resistance continued, prompting multiple officers to rush in and subdue the driver.
[Witness: There was a loud crashing sound. The driver was shouting loudly and kept physically struggling.]

During the vehicle collision, one officer suffered a wrist fracture while three others sustained minor injuries.
The blood alcohol concentration of the SUV driver in their 40s at the time was confirmed to be at a level warranting license revocation.
Police applied for an arrest warrant for the driver on charges of special obstruction of official duties resulting in injury and drunk driving, but it was learned that prosecutors rejected the request on the grounds that there appeared to be no risk of flight or destruction of evidence.
