The project to build the presidential office in Sejong has wrapped up its design competition and entered full swing.
The National Agency for Administrative City Construction (NAACC) announced today (the 22nd) that it has completed the design competition and the process of gathering opinions from the public and experts for the presidential office in Sejong, and is now fully embarking on the architectural design.
During the design competition held from January to April this year, out of a total of 17 entries, the NAACC selected "National Symbol Space Realized through Chae and Madang, Scenery of Wisdom" submitted by the Haeahn Architecture consortium as the final winning design.
The design competition evaluation committee highly praised the winning entry for embodying a Korean-style landscape through spatial composition that conforms to the axis of natural terrain, similar to Changdeokgung Palace, and the traditional arrangement of "chae (buildings) and madang (yards)."
Starting with the commencement of this design, the NAACC plans to push forward the project with the goal of completing the design and breaking ground for construction in 2027, followed by moving in by August 2029.
The agency also explained that during the subsequent design process, it will operate a special advisory committee composed of experts from various fields including culture, architecture, and history, while continuously gathering public opinions to refine the design.
