An official belonging to the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment has been found dead at home, prompting investigations by police and the ministry's audit office.
According to the ministry's labor union and other sources, official A in their 30s was found dead at their residence in Sejong on July 16.
The union demanded a thorough investigation, stating that the deceased had suffered from heavy workloads and that tips had been received suspecting workplace harassment.
The ministry has designated this week as a mourning period and set up a memorial space for the deceased within the government complex building.
Separately from the police investigation, the ministry's audit office is also verifying the facts through interviews with related parties and the collection of materials, and plans to review follow-up measures based on the investigation results.
