The prosecution is set to summon and question the former head of the detective division at the Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station in connection with allegations of a botched investigation into Jang Yoon-gi.
The Gwangju District Prosecutors Office plans to question the former head of the detective division, Senior Superintendent Park, as a suspect this afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Park has been singled out as a figure involved in the alleged mishandling of the Jang Yoon-gi case. Although a warrant review was held yesterday, the court dismissed the arrest warrant.
Attending the pre-arrest suspect interrogation yesterday, Park's legal counsel claimed that there was a guideline from the National Office of Investigation to separate Jang Yoon-gi's sexual assault crime and murder case.
They also stated that a "consolidated investigation" was requested through the Gwangju Provincial Police Agency, but the National Office of Investigation blocked it three times.
The prosecution plans to focus on verifying the facts regarding the directives from the National Office of Investigation claimed by Park's side today.
