The colored rice paddy art, a famous attraction in the rural fields of Goesan, North Chungcheong Province, is capturing the attention of visitors again this year.
According to Goesan County today (July 22), rice planting took place early last month across 10,693 square meters of paddy fields located below Munggwang Reservoir.
To mark the Year of the Red Horse, standard green rice along with purple, red, and yellow rice varieties were planted to showcase a red horse design symbolizing vitality and progressive spirit.
A key characteristic of rice paddy art is that its appearance shifts continuously depending on the growth stages of the rice.
While the horse currently appears black, a distinct red horse will become visible starting late this month.
Visitors can also find another rice paddy art piece featuring a cute honeybee character (covering 3,287 square meters) near Ggulbeol Land in Sari-myeon.
Since 2008, the county has annually utilized colored rice to transform paddy fields into canvases for unique artwork.
