As the former manager of comedian Park Na-rae, accused of demanding a portion of the company's revenue, has been forwarded to the prosecution while detained, the former manager's legal representative stated, "We are thoroughly reviewing the investigative records and the arguments of the previous legal team."
Law Firm Gangsim recently stated through the comments section of the YouTube channel "Attorney Jang," operated by lawyer Jang Hyun-ho, "Our law firm was recently appointed as the new legal counsel, and this is a matter in which the investigation has been ongoing for a long time prior to our appointment."
The firm continued, "We are currently conducting a meticulous review of the investigative records from the investigative agencies, including the arrest warrant, as well as the arguments of the previous legal team," adding, "We ask for your understanding that we cannot disclose specific details due to the nature of the ongoing investigation." They also added, "As legal counsel, we will do our utmost with a sense of responsibility to ensure the client's right to defense and to clarify the exact facts between both parties."
The Seoul Yongsan Police Station recently forwarded Park's former manager, surnamed Shin, to the prosecution in a detained state on charges of attempted extortion and embezzlement in the course of business. According to reports, an arrest warrant was issued by the court on the 16th, leading to Shin's detention. Another former manager, who faced the same charge of attempted extortion alongside Shin, was also forwarded to the prosecution without detention.
According to police, Shin and the others are accused of demanding an amount equivalent to 10% of Park's company revenue for 2024 in exchange for not exposing allegations that Park used company funds privately for her ex-boyfriend and others. Shin was also charged with embezzling approximately 30 million won in company funds. These are charges applied by the police upon forwarding the case, and guilt has not been finalized.
Lawyer Jang Hyun-ho previously uploaded a video to his YouTube channel on the 11th titled "I was contacted by Park Na-rae's former manager," announcing that he had been retained as the legal representative for one of the former managers. At the time, Lawyer Jang stated, "I previously produced a video regarding the dispute between Park Na-rae and her managers, and after seeing it, one of the managers requested legal representation, leading me to take on the case recently."
Lawyer Jang emphasized that the video he previously covered regarding this case was not produced after taking on his current client. He explained to the effect, "I want to make it clear that I did not produce the video to take sides or favor anyone because I am this person's representative."
In a video released last January, Lawyer Jang analyzed that the dispute between Park and her former managers began over unpaid wages and settlement issues, and escalated into a criminal case as real estate provisional attachments, a complaint for attempted extortion, and additional exposures followed. At the time, operating on the premise that the allegations raised by the former managers were recognized as true, Lawyer Jang even mentioned the possibility of Park receiving a prison sentence or probation, and expressed the opinion that attempting early damage recovery and settlement would be advantageous.
Meanwhile, Park herself was also reportedly forwarded to the prosecution without detention on the 10th on charges of special assault and violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, in connection with the case raised by the former managers.
