The group NewJeans has released a surprise video to mark their 4th anniversary, featuring four members: MINJI, Hanni, HAERIN, and HYEIN.
This marks the first time the four members have created content together in about two years, following the release of their Japanese debut single "Supernatural" in the summer of 2024.
NewJeans had been in conflict with their agency, ADOR, following the dismissal of former CEO Min Hee-jin. Although the members announced the termination of their exclusive contracts during a press conference in November 2024, the court ruled in favor of the agency in both the injunction and the main lawsuit, effectively halting their independent activities.
Subsequently, members HAERIN, HYEIN, and Hanni returned to ADOR one by one by December of last year.
At the time, the agency stated that they were in discussions with MINJI in a positive direction, but claimed that DANIELLE was responsible for leaving the team and notified her of contract termination in December of last year.
With MINJI, who has not yet officially announced her return to the agency, appearing in this video, expectations are rising that NewJeans will soon resume activities as a four-member group.
Regarding the video, ADOR explained, "This video is commemorative content produced to enjoy with fans in celebration of NewJeans' 4th anniversary."
The agency added, "We plan to announce the specific plans and methods for NewJeans' activities once discussions with the members are fully concluded."
NewJeans debuted on July 22, 2022, with "Attention," creating a sensation. Since then, they have enjoyed syndrome-level popularity, with every song they released, including "Hype Boy," "Ditto," "OMG," and "Super Shy," becoming a hit.
In August 2023, NewJeans reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard main album chart, the "Billboard 200," with their second mini-album "Get Up," becoming the second K-pop girl group in history to achieve this feat.
