30 Million Won in Checks Found on Street... "Owner Still Not Found"

A bundle of checks worth tens of millions of won has been found on the street.

The owner has yet to be found. Here is the report.

The checks were discovered on the street in front of a fruit shop in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, on July 10.

The total amount was 30 million won, consisting of two 10 million won checks and ten 1 million won checks.

A citizen found the checks lying on the ground and reported them to the police.

To find the owner, the police first verified the source of the checks.

They confirmed that the checks were issued by a bank in November of last year. However, when they visited the bank, they found it difficult to identify the owner because there was no endorsement—a name or signature—on the back of the checks.

The police also identified the issuer of the checks. The 70-year-old woman who issued them reportedly stated, "I have never issued these checks, and I have not visited Guri recently."

The police are continuing their investigation to find the true owner. What happens if the owner is never found?

According to the police, if the owner of lost property does not come forward within six months, ownership is transferred to the person who found it.
