In the northern Gyeonggi Province, where heavy rain has been pouring, flooding has caused damage, including a golf course being submerged by overflowing river water. As strong rain is expected to concentrate in the central region until this morning, Wednesday, July 22, please take extra care on the roads.

At Gunnam Dam in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, muddy water is gushing through the floodgates with a powerful current.
As monsoon rain concentrated in the northern Gyeonggi region yesterday, July 21, the water level at Gunnam Dam rose to a maximum of 35m by 7:00 p.m., threatening the safety level of 40m. The water level at Imjin Bridge exceeded the flood warning threshold of 10.8m, causing nearby golf courses to be submerged by the overflowing river.
Due to the rising water levels of the Imjin River, a flood warning was issued for the area around Imjin Bridge starting yesterday afternoon, and a flood advisory was issued for the area around Biryong Bridge in Paju. Traffic on nearby bridges and roads was subsequently restricted.
Fortunately, as the rain concentrated in northern Gyeonggi showed a lull overnight, water levels along the Imjin River are now receding.
Monsoon rain is forecast across the country today, July 22, with a focus on the central region.
Strong rain of 20 to 30mm per hour is expected in the central region between dawn and morning.
From midnight to 6:00 a.m. today, heavy rain has been falling in southern Gyeonggi and the Chungcheong region, with 125mm recorded in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, and 98mm in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.
However, all heavy rain warnings that had been in effect for southern Gyeonggi and the Chungcheong region were lifted as of 6:30 a.m.
The Korea Meteorological Administration has urged the public to be especially cautious of flooding in low-lying areas and river overflows, and to be mindful of risks such as electric shocks in flooded areas.
