The ruling and opposition parties have agreed to process a special counsel bill during this month's extraordinary parliamentary session to uncover the truth behind the ballot paper shortage incident during the June 3 local elections.
Regarding the method of recommending the special counsel, which had been a point of contention, the Democratic Party and the People Power Party have agreed to form a public recommendation committee with an equal number of members from both sides. The committee will recommend two candidates to the President through a bipartisan agreement, and the President will then appoint one of the two as the special counsel.
The two parties plan to determine the scope and subjects of the investigation through further consultations.
