The Women and Juvenile Crimes Investigation Unit of the Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency announced today (July 21) that it has referred a former employee of a psychiatric hospital, identified as A (in his 60s), to the prosecution without detention on charges of assault causing bodily injury.
A is accused of assaulting a 17-year-old patient, identified as B, multiple times inside a single-person isolation room at a psychiatric hospital in Boeun on the morning of May 9, at approximately 9:30 a.m.
It was determined that while attempting to restrain B to a bed, A kicked the patient twice as she resisted, and then pressed his knee against her neck while restraining her with the help of three other staff members.
The police launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from the patient's parents, who discovered the incident while visiting her that same day.
It is reported that A resigned on the same day.
