The Democratic Party and the People Power Party have reached a tentative agreement on a special counsel bill to investigate the ballot paper shortage that occurred during the June 3 local elections and by-elections.
Both parties have decided to name the bill the "Act on the Appointment of a Special Counsel to Investigate the Truth Behind the Election Management Failure, Including the Ballot Paper Shortage During the 9th Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections," and have agreed to process it within the July extraordinary session of the National Assembly.
The appointment of the special counsel will be conducted through the formation of a Public Recommendation Committee.
The two parties will recommend two candidates to the president from among the six candidates selected by the recommendation committee, and the president will then appoint one of them as the special counsel.
