According to the city of Yeongcheon, a 30-something Grade 7 public official, identified as A, who was in charge of accounting at the township office, is suspected of transferring public funds into their own personal bank account over 230 times between November of last year and this month.

The embezzlement was discovered by another employee who had taken over the duties of official A after A applied for sick leave due to a leg injury.
