Complaints Over Valley Access Restrictions Met With Sharp Rebuttal from Firefighter

A post complaining about the loss of freedom due to valley access restrictions during the monsoon season has been circulating online.

The post has drawn significant attention after a serving firefighter issued a sharp rebuttal.

Baek Gyeong, a serving firefighter and author, shared a post written by a man on social media.

The man argued, "Am I the only one who thinks our freedom has already been taken away?" He continued, "I drove for an hour and a half to go to a valley for water activities, only to be told that access to all valleys nationwide is restricted under the instructions of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Why is the country stopping me when I want to take responsibility for my own water activities?"

In response, Baek wrote, "I frequently go out on rescue calls to valleys during this time of year, and half of those calls are to recover people who have already been submerged in the water for a long time."

He further pointed out, "If you had ever heard the voices of people calling out all night for a father, a husband, or a brother who did not resurface, you would not be able to call the prevention of entering flooded valleys a loss of freedom."
