The Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission held a "Joint Declaration Ceremony for Mutual Growth in Home Shopping," attended by government officials, representatives from the home shopping industry, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to announce a joint declaration and 10 key action items.
The ceremony, held in Seoul on July 20, was organized as a follow-up to the "Measures to Enhance Mutual Growth and Vitality in Home Shopping" announced by the Commission in May, aimed at strengthening the foundation for shared growth.
The joint declaration includes commitments to government regulatory innovation and industrial support, the discovery of high-quality SME products and the promotion of fair trade practices by home shopping companies, the protection of consumer rights and contributions to the development of the broadcasting and media ecosystem, and the enhancement of product and service competitiveness for SMEs.
The 10 key action items include government regulatory reform and policy support, the commitment of home shopping companies to support SME growth and responsible broadcasting operations, and efforts by SMEs to innovate quality and secure consumer trust.
The event also highlighted successful cases of mutual cooperation, such as CJ OnStyle's brand incubation program for SMEs and Home & Shopping's support for small business owners in traditional markets.
Kim Jong-cheol, Chairman of the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission, stated, "Mutual cooperation between home shopping companies and SMEs is a vital foundation for creating a fair distribution environment and ensuring the sustainable growth of SMEs," adding, "We must continue our collaborative efforts to expand market access for SMEs and foster shared growth."
