The police special investigation team visited Jang Yoon-gi, who is currently incarcerated in prison, today (July 20) to conduct an interrogation. The investigation focused on whether he received preferential treatment during the investigation process because his father is a serving senior police officer. Jang's uncle, who is also a senior police officer, has also been summoned.

The National Police Agency's special investigation team visited Gwangju Prison this afternoon to meet with Jang Yoon-gi, who is currently detained there.
This marks the first direct interrogation of Jang since the launch of the special investigation team.
The team questioned Jang on whether he received any preferential treatment during the initial investigation by the Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station.
It was revealed that the investigation team at the Gwangsan Police Station at the time had provided convenience to Jang, allowing him to speak on the phone more than 10 times with his father, a serving senior police officer.
Investigations also showed that Jang's father had used the investigation team to find out in advance about the investigation schedule, including whether visitation was possible on that day.
To verify allegations of collusion between Jang's family and the investigation team, the special investigation team also summoned Jang's uncle, a serving police officer identified by his surname Jang, a lieutenant (Gyeong-gam), for questioning as a witness.
It is reported that during the questioning, Lieutenant Jang stated that he did not know any of the members of the Gwangsan Police Station investigation team at all.
Tomorrow morning, a pre-detention warrant hearing will be held for Superintendent Park (Gyeong-jeong), the former head of the detective division at the Gwangsan Police Station who oversaw the investigation into Jang's case.
Superintendent Park is accused of exerting undue influence in the process of referring Jang's case to the prosecution under charges of general murder rather than rape-murder.
Superintendent Park's side emphasized, "During the initial investigation, we reviewed the possibility that Jang's murder was motivated by sexual assault," adding, "However, we included in the report that we were referring the case as general murder because it was difficult to prove the sexual assault charges within the limited detention period."
The police special investigation team has requested a travel ban for Superintendent General Kim (Gyeong-mu-gwan), the former chief of the Gwangsan Police Station and Park's superior at the time.
