▲ Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education to restructure vocational high school departments
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced on July 20 that it will proceed with the restructuring of 27 departments across 19 vocational high schools in the province this year.
A total of 46 classes are subject to this initiative, and the office has secured approximately 17 billion won in state funding after being selected for a Ministry of Education project.
The restructuring involves reorganizing departments and curricula to focus on future industries, aiming to cultivate experts in new technology fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and smart manufacturing, while establishing a vocational education system that meets local demand.
These schools plan to transition their existing departments into fields related to new industries and local specialized sectors, including AI and digital, bio and chemistry, content and media, future mobility, K-beauty, and dessert commerce, with the goal of recruiting new students for the 2027–2028 academic years.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education expects this departmental restructuring to enhance the competitiveness of specialized high schools and expand the cultivation of customized talent in response to future industrial demands.
