A city bus crashed into a sidewalk and struck a station pillar in front of Exit 3 of KTX Gwangmyeong Station in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, around 10:15 a.m. today (July 20).
The accident left the bus driver, a man in his 50s identified as A, injured and transported to a nearby hospital. The station pillar and the front of the bus were partially damaged.
There were no other passengers on the bus at the time of the incident besides the driver.
It has been reported that A stated to the police, "I had briefly stopped the vehicle near the bus stop in front of Exit 3, and as I was pulling away, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, leading to the accident."
The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by questioning A.
