This is a 3-credit elective course at Yonsei University that teaches data analysis and application methods.
With over 500 students enrolled, the course, the midterm exam, and the recently concluded final exam were all conducted online.
The exam policy allowed the use of AI but prohibited the so-called copy-and-paste practice of directly copying AI-generated answers.
The intention was for students to restructure the AI responses.
What were the results of the exam?
In both the midterm and final exams, one in three students scored 390 points or higher out of a possible 400.
The percentage of students who received an A grade reached 84% of the total class.
One student confessed to our reporting team, "Many students just copied and pasted, but they weren't caught," adding that they themselves "received a high score without studying."
Our reporting team, who had never taken the course, tried solving the problems themselves.
Since the exam prohibited direct copying of text, we captured the exam questions as image files and asked an AI to solve them.
The answers were generated in less than a minute, and they were 95% consistent with the official answer key.
On the course evaluation bulletin board, students left comments such as, "Grades are determined by who is best at clicking AI," and "It only makes fools out of those who actually studied."

The university stated that in the future, it will strengthen the ability to differentiate students by increasing the number of application and analysis-based questions, making it difficult to achieve a perfect score using AI alone.
