The joint investigation team of prosecutors and police, which is probing the lax management and misconduct at the National Election Commission (NEC), has launched a compulsory investigation into allegations regarding an 'overseas trip' taken by former NEC Chairperson Noh Tae-ak.
The joint investigation team for the truth-finding of the infringement of citizens' voting rights announced today (July 20) that it is currently conducting a search and seizure operation at the office of the NEC Chairperson and other locations.
The search and seizure warrant includes charges such as occupational embezzlement related to the 'overseas trip' allegations.
Former Chairperson Noh and unnamed NEC employees have been identified as suspects.
However, it was confirmed that the residence of former Chairperson Noh was excluded from today's search and seizure operation.
