At approximately 8:52 a.m. today (July 20), a 25-ton truck overturned to the left while driving near the entrance of the Banje Tunnel on the Pyeongtaek-Jecheon Expressway in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, heading toward Jecheon.
While there were no casualties, a large amount of soil loaded on the truck spilled onto the road, and cleanup operations are currently underway.
During the cleanup process, two lanes between the West Anseong Interchange and the South Anseong Interchange in the direction of Jecheon have been completely closed, causing traffic congestion in the area.
Immediately after the accident, the Korea Expressway Corporation issued an emergency text message to notify drivers of the road closure and advised them to use detour routes.
A police official stated, "We will lift the traffic restrictions as soon as the soil spilled on the road is cleared," adding, "We are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident."
