YouTube creators Psick Univ., including comedians Lee Yong-ju, Jung Jae-hyung, and Kim Min-su, have visited Rwanda to support local children on their first day of kindergarten.
ChildFund Korea announced on July 20 that Psick Univ. participated in the "Follow Friends to Africa" campaign to support early childhood education in Rwanda and donated 10 million won to assist local children.
ChildFund Korea has been conducting early childhood education support projects in Rwanda since 2016. The organization helps with the care and growth of local children by operating early childhood centers, providing play-based education, improving educational environments, supplying school uniforms and stationery, and offering health checkups. The "Follow Friends to Africa" campaign was launched to ensure that Rwandan children in blind spots of education and care can attend early childhood centers and grow up healthy.
Psick Univ. contributed by participating in the production of campaign content and donating 10 million won. This marks the second time Psick Univ. has participated in ChildFund Korea's overseas child support campaign, following their involvement last year.
Previously, Psick Univ. participated in the "Follow Friends to Bangladesh" campaign to prevent the closure of the Bridge School in Bangladesh and donated an additional 10 million won.
At that time, the campaign utilized YouTube content featuring Psick Univ.'s signature humor to generate 8,615 messages of support and 95 million won in annual donations, helping to keep the Bridge School in operation.
Psick Univ. stated, "We hope many people will join us in this Rwandan campaign, following last year's, with good intentions to help open the path for children's first day of kindergarten." They added, "As the entire Psick Univ. team is participating this year, we will strive to convey the meaning of the campaign to more people and expand our positive influence."
ChildFund Korea Chairman Hwang Young-gi said, "We will continue our early childhood support projects so that Rwandan children can take their first steps in learning within a safe space," adding, "We hope many people will support the children's future through the content and campaigns we are conducting with Psick Univ."
The "Follow Friends to Africa" campaign will officially begin on August 27. The YouTube content will be released on ChildFund Korea's official YouTube channel, with the first episode airing at 6:00 PM on the same day, followed by a total of four episodes released every Thursday.
