A fire that broke out at a Coupang logistics center in Incheon yesterday morning (July 18) has been burning for 24 hours. Despite overnight firefighting efforts, the blaze remains uncontained due to the large amount of flammable materials inside the building.

Bright red flames shoot out from the building.

Firefighters continue to spray water, but the flames show no signs of subsiding.

The fire, which started at the Coupang logistics center in Incheon at around 7:00 a.m. yesterday, has now been burning for a full day.

Considering the risk of structural collapse, the fire authorities issued a national firefighting mobilization order and continued suppression efforts throughout the night, but the fire has not been brought under control.

The fire, which began on the 6th floor, spread to the 7th floor along the building's exterior wall.

As thick smoke and intense heat have made it difficult to enter the building, fire authorities are continuing suppression efforts by utilizing the ramp area on the side of the building.

The firefighting operation is facing difficulties because the 6th-floor logistics area contains flammable items, such as household goods.

However, it has been determined that the fire has not spread to floors other than the 6th and 7th floors so far.

All 121 employees who were inside the building at the time of the incident evacuated safely, resulting in no casualties. However, one firefighter was treated at a hospital after inhaling smoke during the suppression process.

As smoke and odors from the fire spread to the surrounding areas, the Seo-gu district office in Incheon set up a temporary shelter at Sinhyun Elementary School.

Fire authorities are focusing their efforts on preventing the fire from spreading to nearby petrochemical plants and LPG filling stations.
