Heavy rain falling in a short period has led to a series of traffic accidents. Residents who were stranded due to rising water levels from the downpour have also been rescued.

At approximately 5:50 a.m. today (July 18), a 4.5-ton truck overturned on a rain-slicked road near Banpo Hangang Park on the Olympic Expressway in Seoul, heading toward Hanam.
[Interview] Kim Ye-jun / Witness at the scene: I was on my way to work, and because the road was completely blocked, I instinctively felt that something had happened. I was just stuck there, and then they started clearing the cars one by one...
There were no injuries, but the overturned truck blocked two lanes, causing traffic congestion for a time.

At around 8:00 a.m. today, a 25-passenger commuter bus skidded on a rain-slicked road in Sacheon-myeon, Gangneung, Gangwon Province, colliding with a passenger car before overturning.

At around 7:00 a.m. today, a passenger car rear-ended a truck in the Yongma Tunnel in Acheon-dong, Guri, Gyeonggi Province, and subsequently burst into flames.
It was determined that the accident occurred when the passenger car skidded on the wet road, leading to the fire.
The driver of the passenger car, in his 30s, sustained burns to his arm and received treatment. Traffic in both directions was restricted for approximately six hours to manage the aftermath of the fire.

At around 10:00 a.m. today, a report was filed with emergency services in Nam-myeon, Inje, Gangwon Province, stating that people were stranded due to heavy rain.
Fire authorities rescued a man and a woman in their 60s, who were trapped on the other side of the swollen river, about an hour after receiving the report.
