Traffic in both directions of the Yongma Tunnel, which connects Myeonmok-dong in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, and Acheon-dong in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, was fully controlled this morning (July 18) following a vehicle fire caused by a traffic accident, causing inconvenience to commuters.
At approximately 6:52 a.m. today, a collision occurred between a passenger car and a truck inside the Yongma Tunnel.
The accident left the driver of the passenger car, a man in his 30s, injured, and he was transported to a hospital. A fire also broke out in the passenger car.
Fire authorities completely extinguished the blaze at approximately 7:30 a.m., about 40 minutes after the incident.
Due to firefighting efforts and the removal of the damaged vehicles, traffic in both directions of the Yongma Tunnel was completely blocked. The control was lifted at 9:05 a.m., about two hours later.
The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
