Amid escalating armed conflict between the United States and Iran over control of the Strait of Hormuz, the defense ministers of Israel and the U.S. have discussed military operations against Iran, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced.
The ministry stated that Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz held a phone call with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on July 16 (local time).
During the call, Secretary Hegseth briefed Minister Katz on the latest developments regarding U.S. military activities within Iran, and both sides agreed to continue their cooperation in preparation for any potential future scenarios, the ministry reported.
Furthermore, the ministry explained that Minister Katz briefed Secretary Hegseth on the status of ongoing Israeli military operations in Syria, the Gaza Strip, and Lebanon.
"We have never once asked the United States to take military action on our behalf along Israel's borders," Minister Katz emphasized. "We are committed to defending the people of Israel from all threats, and we will continue to fulfill that mission."
