People Power Party lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo has once again directly criticized independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon and his pro-Han faction associates, who are currently engaged in a dispute over court testimony regarding the situation during the December 3 emergency martial law declaration.
Ahn wrote on his social media, "If lawmaker Han intends to form a party, I advise him to exclude the pro-Han 'Yeouido wreckers'."
"Wrecker" is a term used to describe individuals or acts that spread distorted assessments or critical messages about specific issues or people online or on social media.
Ahn recently appeared as a witness in the trial of Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho (who was the floor leader of the People Power Party at the time of the martial law) on charges of obstructing the vote to lift the emergency martial law. During the trial, Ahn testified, "I understand that the person who first notified People Power Party lawmakers to gather at the party headquarters instead of the National Assembly was then-party leader Han Dong-hoon," which drew criticism from the pro-Han faction.
Following this, Ahn held a press conference on the 12th and announced his opposition to Han's return to the party.
Ahn stated today (July 15), "After finishing the press conference, I calmly observed the situation," and added, "As expected, the behavior of those 'mouthpieces' who claim to act as representatives for lawmaker Han was appalling."
He continued, "There are even base individuals who used to work with me but are now fiercely defending lawmaker Han, and the sight of them writing fictional stories based on delusions, such as 'who ordered the press conference,' is even pathetic."
He further argued, "Such pathetic 'Yeouido wrecker' behavior could eventually drive lawmaker Han into a corner," adding, "As long as those wreckers who talk about being 'pro-Han' remain by his side, the 'resentment' (han) of those who have been bitten and scratched by them will bring down 'Han (Dong-hoon)'."
Lawmaker Han previously criticized Ahn's court testimony as "false agitation," but he has not responded separately to Ahn's subsequent attacks.
Han has also not issued any particular stance regarding recent remarks by conservative commentator Cho Gab-je, CEO of Cho Gab-je.com, who hinted at the possibility of Han forming a new party during a recent YTN radio broadcast.
