Truck Strikes 20-Year-Old Outside Vehicle on Highway, Resulting in Death

A person was killed and another injured after a truck struck a passenger car that had come to a stop following a collision with a median barrier on the Seoul Ring Expressway.

According to the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency on Wednesday (July 15), a passenger car driven by a man in his 20s, identified as A, collided with a median barrier near the Gyeyang Interchange on the Seoul Ring Expressway in Yongjong-dong, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, at approximately 11:30 p.m. yesterday (July 14).

Subsequently, a 1-ton truck following behind struck the stationary passenger car and A, who had stepped out of the vehicle.

As a result of the accident, A sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital by 119 emergency services but later died. One passenger in the truck was also injured.

Police believe the accident occurred when the vehicle skidded due to rain that had fallen the previous day, and they plan to investigate the exact circumstances.

A police official stated that they intend to book and investigate the truck driver, a man in his 40s, on charges of causing death under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents.
