Police have launched a compulsory investigation after uncovering evidence of child sex trafficking involving a member of the Cheongju City Council.
The Cheongju Cheongwon Police Station sent investigators to the office of Council Member A at the Cheongju City Council, as well as their local district office and residence, on the morning of July 15 to secure relevant evidence.
It is reported that the police initiated the search and seizure after obtaining information that Council Member A allegedly solicited sex from a minor or produced sexually exploitative material on multiple occasions between October 2024 and May 2025.
The police have booked Council Member A on charges of sex trafficking and the production of sexually exploitative material under the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles against Sexual Abuse and are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the case.
