In Shenyang, China, where record-breaking heavy rains recently poured, an electric vehicle is seen standing on a road filled with rainwater.
However, a large component is seen dangling from the rear of the vehicle.
As the video spread, voices of concern regarding the safety of electric vehicles emerged online, with many speculating that the vehicle's motor had completely fallen off.
BYD, the manufacturer of the vehicle, explained that the rear motor detached after the vehicle sustained a strong impact to its undercarriage while passing through a flooded section of the road.
The company further advised drivers to avoid flooded roads whenever possible and to prioritize safety above all else.
