U.S. President Donald Trump stated on July 14 (local time) that if no agreement regarding an end to hostilities is reached with Iran by next week, he will attack the country's power plants and bridges.
In an interview with Fox News that day, President Trump said, "Next week, it’s going to be very bad for them. Because next week, the power plants will be (the target)," adding that "bridges will also be targets next week," according to Reuters and AFP.
President Trump mentioned that U.S. and Iranian delegations had been in contact that day, but warned, "If they don't come to the table and negotiate, we will take down all their power plants. We will take down all their bridges."
President Trump has previously stated on several occasions that he would attack power plants and bridges during a war with Iran, but these threats have not yet led to large-scale airstrikes.
Regarding the airstrikes against Iran that have continued for four days, President Trump said, "It will continue until I say it's enough."
