Leandro Trossard (31, Belgium), a forward for Arsenal in the English Premier League (EPL), is heading to the Turkish league to join forces with South Korean national team striker Oh Hyeon-gyu.
Besiktas officially announced on its website on the 15th (KST) that it has "begun negotiations with Arsenal and the player's side regarding a permanent transfer for Trossard."
The two clubs have agreed on a transfer fee of 17 million pounds (approximately 33.9 billion won), consisting of a base fee of 15.3 million pounds plus 1.7 million pounds in add-ons.
Trossard has traveled to Istanbul to finalize the remaining transfer procedures, including a medical examination.
Trossard, who joined Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 for a base fee of 21 million pounds, was originally under contract until 2027.
He recorded 36 goals and 34 assists in 174 appearances while wearing the Arsenal jersey.
Last season, he contributed to the team's league title by recording 6 goals and 6 assists in 31 league matches.
He was a key player, starting 21 of those 31 league matches and also starting in the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
He also played for the Belgian national team in the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, starting all 6 matches and scoring 2 goals to lead his country to the quarterfinals.
With Trossard joining Besiktas, attention is turning to his potential synergy and scoring competition with Oh Hyeon-gyu, who leads the team's front line.
Oh Hyeon-gyu displayed a sharp scoring sense in the second half of last season, recording 6 goals and 1 assist in 13 league matches.
Although Trossard's primary position is left winger, his goal-scoring ability suggests he will compete for goals with Oh in the Besiktas attack.
"I personally had a very good season. I want to have even better seasons wearing the Besiktas jersey," Trossard said. "I can't wait to meet the fans."
