Samsung Lions foreign ace Ariel Jurado, 30, is set to be sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
A Samsung team official stated on July 14, "Due to the poor condition of Jurado's shoulder, medical examinations have indicated that he needs to skip his starting rotation a couple of times," adding, "We are currently looking for a six-week replacement foreign player."
Jurado, who joined Samsung last year and recorded 15 wins, 8 losses, 197 1/3 innings pitched, and a 2.60 ERA, has continued to anchor the Samsung mound this year, posting 5 wins, 1 loss, 107 innings pitched, and a 3.11 ERA during the first half of the season.
Although he lacked run support, he logged the most innings in the league.
Furthermore, he performed his role as a starting pitcher by recording 13 quality starts (at least 6 innings pitched with 3 or fewer earned runs) in 17 appearances.
Samsung, which finished the first half of the season in first place, now faces a significant variable ahead of the start of the second half.
