A man in his 40s has been referred to the prosecution for growing marijuana in a building he rented, which had been used as an agricultural processing plant.
The Incheon Ganghwa Police Station announced that it has arrested and referred a man in his 40s, identified as A, to the prosecution on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
A is accused of cultivating 30 marijuana plants in a building located in Hwado-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, from May until recently.
Police arrested A at the scene and seized 30 marijuana plants and 23g of marijuana seeds.
A reportedly told the police, "I rented the building to raise reptiles, but I decided to grow marijuana because I wanted to try it myself."
The building rented by A was previously used as a factory for processing crops such as mugwort and is known to be approximately 66 square meters in size.
A police official stated, "We plan to request the National Forensic Service to test A's hair and urine to determine whether he has used drugs."
