A man in his 20s has been arrested by police on charges of knocking down and sexually assaulting a foreign woman he did not know on a street in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, in the middle of the night.
The Suwon Paldal Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced today (July 13) that they arrested the suspect, identified as A, on the spot on charges of quasi-rape resulting in injury.
A is accused of pushing and knocking down a foreign woman, B, on a street in Paldal-gu, Suwon, at approximately 2:10 a.m. today and committing a sex crime.
Police were dispatched to the scene following a report from a witness and apprehended the suspect in the act.
Police investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim were strangers to each other.
The suspect told police, "I was intoxicated and do not remember the situation well."
A police official stated, "We will clarify whether sexual assault occurred through detailed analysis," adding, "The charges applied could change depending on the results."
