Police Apprehend Man Who Posted Death Threats Against President Lee Jae-myung on Social Media

A man has been apprehended by police for posting messages on social media threatening to kill President Lee Jae-myung.

The Seoul Hyehwa Police Station announced today (July 13) that it arrested a man in his 20s, identified as A, on July 8 on charges of attempted intimidation.

Police explained that attempted intimidation applies when the content of a threat to harm a specific individual does not directly reach the target.

A is accused of posting the same threatening message on his social media account five times on July 6.

After tracking and identifying the author of the posts, the police plan to refer A to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment in the near future.
