A 7-year-old girl has died after drowning at a large water park in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, last weekend.
The Ilsan Seobu Police Station stated that on July 11 at approximately 12:18 p.m., the 7-year-old girl was found face down in the water at One Mount water park in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Although she was wearing a life jacket and was rescued, she was transported to a hospital but ultimately passed away yesterday.
At the time of the accident, the child was visiting the water park as part of a group event organized by a taekwondo gym. Investigations indicate that the accident occurred while she was playing in the wave pool.
The police are currently analyzing CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. They are also reviewing whether to charge staff members with professional negligence resulting in death and whether the Serious Accidents Punishment Act applies to the case.
