Yellow Balloon Tour announced today (July 13) that an analysis of overseas package tour bookings for departures in July and August shows a 61.2% increase following the reduction in international fuel surcharges in July compared to the previous period.
The analysis revealed that bookings made from June 16, when the news of the fuel surcharge reduction was announced, to July 9 increased by 61.2% compared to the same period prior (May 23 to June 15).
Yellow Balloon Tour attributed this to the easing of travel cost burdens due to the drop in fuel surcharges, which prompted a surge in demand from travelers who had been delaying their bookings ahead of the summer vacation season.
By region, bookings for Japan saw the largest increase at 174.5% compared to the previous period, followed by Vietnam (73.4%) and China (62.5%).
Yellow Balloon Tour explained that bookings were concentrated on short-haul destinations with relatively shorter flight times and lower cost burdens.
