Homeplus Temporarily Closes Hypermarkets Starting Today... "Cannot Afford Operating Costs"

Homeplus is temporarily suspending its hypermarket operations starting today (July 13).

In a press release issued today, Homeplus announced its decision to enter a temporary shutdown of its hypermarkets effective immediately.

The company explained that for businesses located within the malls but outside the main hypermarket area, operations may continue if the tenants wish to do so.

Regarding the reason for the temporary shutdown, the company stated, "All operating funds have been exhausted, and we are in a situation where we cannot afford even the basic operating costs to maintain the stores, including utility bills, let alone payments for merchandise."
