Thirteen industry-academia project consortia have been selected to conduct joint research between postdoctoral researchers and companies in strategic technology fields.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced the results of this year's "Strategic Technology Postdoctoral Researcher Industry-Academia Project" consortia selection today (July 12).
The project involves companies identifying their technological needs and forming consortia with universities or government-funded research institutes, where postdoctoral researchers conduct joint research while affiliated with those institutions.
The Ministry of Science and ICT explained that it will also support the sharing of research outcomes and commercialization through industry-academia-research consultative groups, while expanding opportunities for postdoctoral researchers to enter the industrial sector.
Each selected consortium will receive a total of 580 million won over two years, which includes labor costs for the postdoctoral researchers.
A total of 13 consortia were selected, including 6 in fields such as semiconductors and displays, artificial intelligence (AI), secondary batteries, aerospace and marine, hydrogen, and next-generation communications, as well as 7 in the advanced biotechnology field.
The 6 consortia in fields including semiconductors, displays, and AI are: ▲ Kyungpook National University and Opticis (semiconductors and displays) ▲ Kyung Hee University and Kaon Group (AI) ▲ Korea National University of Transportation and CNT Solution (secondary batteries) ▲ Gyeongsang National University and MechaTNS (aerospace and marine) ▲ Konkuk University and Korens RTX (hydrogen) ▲ Kwangwoon University and Samjung Solution (next-generation communications).
In the advanced biotechnology field, the 7 selected consortia are: ▲ Seoul National University and DT&CRO ▲ Kangwon National University and Cheongdo Pharmaceutical ▲ Sungkyunkwan University and Ducell ▲ Ewha Womans University and Cha Biotech ▲ Chung-Ang University and GenPure ▲ Chungnam National University and GH Bio ▲ Sungkyunkwan University and T&L.
Lee Jun-bae, Director General of the Future Talent Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "We will continue to expand the environment where young researchers can gain experience connecting research and industry, focus on their research in a stable manner, and create innovations together with companies."
