Torrential rain is pouring down as if the sky has opened up, and yellow waves are surging over the breakwaters as if to swallow them whole.
Trees along the roads have been helplessly uprooted by the strong winds.
Typhoon Bavi, the 9th typhoon of the season, made landfall in Zhejiang Province, eastern China, last night.
Zhejiang meteorological authorities stated that Bavi first made landfall in Yuhuan, Zhejiang, with maximum wind speeds reaching 144 km/h.
With at least 39 people already dead due to heavy rain and landslides that previously struck southern China, there are concerns about additional damage from flooding, overflowing rivers, and submerged farmland caused by this typhoon.
Around the time of the typhoon's landfall, approximately 2 million people were emergency evacuated across China.
This includes 1.72 million people in Zhejiang Province, 100,000 in Beijing, 130,000 in Fujian Province, and about 34,000 in Shanghai.
In the Zhejiang region, where the damage is concentrated, school classes and work have been suspended, and over 400 flights and dozens of train services have been canceled.
Damage has also been reported in Taiwan and the Philippines, which were within the typhoon's path.
Taiwanese disaster authorities announced that so far, over 110 people have been injured and 14,000 have been evacuated.
While no deaths or serious injuries have been reported, power has been cut to approximately 170,000 households, and hundreds of flights have been canceled.
On the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines, landslides triggered by heavy rain brought by Bavi have left at least 15 people dead and 6 missing.
Bavi is expected to gradually weaken as it moves northwest.
However, heavy rain is forecast to continue in some parts of China until July 15.
