A woman in her 30s has been booked by police on charges of setting fire to her home while her two-year-old child was inside during an argument with her husband.
The Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that it is investigating the woman, identified as A, on charges of arson of an inhabited building.
A is accused of setting fire to the floor of a bedroom in her apartment in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, at approximately 7:30 a.m. yesterday (July 10).
A and her two-year-old son, B, who was with her at the time, were treated at a nearby hospital for injuries, including smoke inhalation. It is reported that neither of them is in life-threatening condition.
The fire, which burned part of the floor and some household items, was extinguished by an official from the apartment management office within about 10 minutes.
The investigation revealed that A had used a lighter to ignite paper during an argument with her husband.
Police are considering measures such as emergency hospitalization for the suspect, taking her current state into account.
