The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it will provide a total of 2.1 billion won in special grants for disaster safety management to six cities and provinces affected by the heavy rainfall that occurred on July 8.
The cities and provinces receiving the special disaster grants are Daejeon, Sejong, Gyeonggi, North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, and North Gyeongsang.
This support was decided to facilitate rapid emergency recovery in the areas damaged by the heavy rain.
The funds will be primarily used for the emergency restoration of damaged facilities and the relief of displaced residents to prevent secondary damage.
Local governments will be able to execute the budget promptly by actively utilizing the system of "use before budget establishment" in accordance with Article 45 of the Local Finance Act.
Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-jung urged, "As the monsoon season has not yet ended, please check weather information frequently and adhere to safety guidelines, such as refraining from entering dangerous areas."
