President Lee Jae-myung, who has decided to personally preside over a 'grand debate on real estate,' stated that he will instruct relevant ministries and presidential staff to identify and pre-announce key issues.
President Lee, who is currently on a state visit to Mongolia, shared a report on the upcoming debate scheduled for July 23 on his social media today (July 10) and wrote the following.
President Lee mentioned issues such as "appropriate property taxes on real estate, whether to differentiate between single-home owners for residential purposes and non-residential or multi-home owners, and if so, what the appropriate level of differentiation should be, whether to handle ultra-high-priced homes for residential use separately, what the criteria should be for ultra-high-priced homes subject to additional (property tax) burdens, the relationship between property taxes and transaction taxes, and the use of property tax revenue." He added, "It would be helpful for national discussion if the key issues are announced in advance, wouldn't it?"
He further added, "I encourage you to share your opinions on these key issues," and stated, "I will instruct the relevant ministries and presidential staff to identify and pre-announce the key issues."
