The Mart Union of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) Service Federation began a sit-in protest today (July 10) at the building housing the headquarters of MBK Partners, the largest shareholder of Homeplus.
Five Homeplus employees, including Ahn Su-yong, head of the Mart Union's Homeplus branch, sat in the lobby of the Gwanghwamun D-Tower, where MBK's headquarters is located, this morning. They chanted slogans such as, "MBK, the main culprit behind the 'eat-and-run' at Homeplus, come out, Kim Byung-ju," and "Expel the speculative capital MBK, arrest Kim Byung-ju."
The KCTU Service Federation plans to hold a general strike rally in Gwanghwamun on July 15.
