[Weathercaster]
The monsoon rain, which has caused damage in various areas, is entering a temporary lull.
Currently, as the rain clouds move northward, light rain is falling only in some parts of the South Chungcheong Province region.
However, this does not mean the monsoon season has ended.
While it will not directly affect the Korean Peninsula, we need to continue monitoring the path of Typhoon Bavi and the atmospheric pressure patterns around the peninsula.
Let us look at the amount of rainfall from yesterday, July 9, to the present.
Heavy rain of around 250mm was concentrated mainly in the central regions.
Today's rain will mostly conclude during the morning, though it will continue in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province until this afternoon before stopping.
Even as the rain clouds pass, you should still carry an umbrella.
There may be sudden, intense downpours in some areas.
Once the rain stops, a heatwave will intensify.
With heatwave advisories in effect, mainly for eastern regions, temperatures will feel like 31°C (88°F) or higher in most areas today, making it quite hot.
There is no rain in the forecast for the weekend, so please take care to stay cool.
