The Woori Card men's professional volleyball team has signed Iranian player Matin Ahmadi (registered name: Matin) as its Asian quota player for the upcoming season.
Woori Card announced today, "Matin is a player with strengths in exceptional height, stable quick attacks, and blocking abilities," adding, "We expect him to bring stability to the team in both offense and defense."
Born in 2001, Matin is a middle blocker who has played in the Iranian Super League. His strengths lie in his quick attacks and blocking, which utilize his 202 cm frame.
Last year, he competed in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) as a member of the Iranian national team.
With this signing, Woori Card has filled the gap in the center position left by Lee Sang-hyeon's enlistment in the military and strengthened its middle blocker lineup.
Matin arrived at Incheon International Airport on July 6 and joined team training immediately after passing his medical examination.
"I am grateful to the club for giving me this great opportunity," Matin said. "I will do my best to adapt to the team quickly and show our fans a great performance."
