Heavy Rain Watch Issued; Up to 200mm Expected in Chungcheong and Honam Regions

A stationary front is moving back and forth between the north and south, bringing heavy rain to the Chungcheong region.

This afternoon, Wednesday, July 8, Buyeo in South Chungcheong Province recorded a downpour of 68mm per hour at one point.

Currently, heavy rain is passing through the northwestern part of North Gyeongsang Province. A heavy rain advisory is in effect for Mungyeong and Sangju in North Gyeongsang Province, and preliminary heavy rain watches have been issued for many other areas.

In areas under the preliminary heavy rain watch, very intense rainfall is expected to concentrate between late tonight and tomorrow morning.

Up to 200mm or more of heavy rain is expected in the Chungcheong and Honam regions by tomorrow.

Most parts of the country will see rainfall at a rate of 20 to 50mm per hour, with extreme downpours of up to 80mm per hour expected, particularly in the Chungcheong and Honam regions.

Please take extra precautions to prevent flood damage in low-lying areas.
