LG Twins foreign hitter Austin Dean has been honored with the KBO League Monthly Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the second time in his career.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced today, July 8, that "Austin was selected as the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League Monthly MVP for June." The KBO stated, "He received 19 out of 35 votes from the media and 125,490 out of 488,764 fan votes, earning a total score of 39.98 points to surpass KIA Tigers' Kim Do-yeong (1 media vote, 231,514 fan votes, total score of 25.11 points)."
This marks the second time Austin has been named Monthly MVP, following his first win in August 2024.
Austin led the LG offense in June by playing in 25 games, recording a batting average of .382 (34 hits in 89 at-bats), 11 home runs, 34 RBIs, and 23 runs scored.
He broke his own record for most home runs in a single month (9 home runs in August 2024), tying with Kim Do-yeong for the most home runs in June, while ranking first in slugging percentage (.789) and RBIs.
He ranked fourth in batting average and fourth in on-base percentage (.462).
He had only four hitless games throughout the month.
Austin will receive a prize of 3 million won and a trophy.
